History

We have been helping children since 1943 and pioneered integrated programs for pre-school children with special needs in Canada since 1968. We have been an important part of the Calgary community since it was established in 1943 by the Catholic Women's League as the Providence Crèche. It was initially opened as a home for abandoned children waiting for adoption. The Sisters of Charity of Providence took on the responsibility of caring for the children until 1968, when Providence Child Development Society, a non-profit, non-sectarian charity took over.
