Parent Information
Staff
Providence employs therapists and teachers to work with the children on an individual basis. We have Certified Teachers, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists, Music Therapists and Psychologists who work with each child daily. We have nurses on staff who provide medical support, administer medication and provide other medical services to meet the needs of each child.
Small Groups
We have a high staff to child ratio. This ensures that every child receives plenty of individual attention, and the help to develop to their full potential.
Playgrounds
Our large outdoor playgrounds and indoor play areas provide children with the opportunity to learn and play together in a safe, exciting and accessible environment.
Children
65% of Providence's children have developmental challenges and are referred to us from paediatricians, families, and the Alberta Children's Hospital.
Children from all over Calgary use our facilities in the southwest and are bussed to the Centre by Handi-Bus.
The children that we care for have a variety of disabilities and conditions, some of which are cerebral palsy, Down's Syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome, spina bifida, severe kidney disorder, attention disorders, behaviour disorders, severe speech delays, autism, fragile X syndrome, hydracephaly, seizure disorders and others, which are very rare.
Collaboration with Other Organizations
We work closely with Alberta Learning, Alberta Children's Hospital, Calgary Handi-Bus, Calgary Rocky View Child and Family Services, Calgary Rocky View Student Health Partnership, The United Way, Volunteer Calgary, Mount Royal College, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, University of Calgary, Red Deer College, Lethbridge College, Athabasca University and Medicine Hat College.
