Children’s Link
Provides comprehensive information of all the resources available to children with disabilities and their families in and around Calgary. They also coordinate parent-to-parent social activities. The staff are mostly parents who have ‘been there’ and this service is free of charge.
FSCD: Family Support for Children with Disabilities
This government program provides financial support for activities such as transportation to medical appointments and respite care. The parents of a child with a disability can contact FSCD to determine what support services they are eligible for.
AADL: Alberta Aids to Daily Living
This government program funds equipment (bathing and toileting equipment, walkers and wheelchairs, back supports catheters, and incontinence supplies.) This can be accessed through the physiotherapist or occupational therapist in your child’s classroom.
Alberta Child Health Benefit
Provides dental care, eyewear, prescription medication, ambulance, and diabetic supplies for a child whose family is below a certain income level (usually the same level where the Alberta Health Premiums are waived)
Government of Canada Disability Tax Credit
Parents who have a child with a disability are entitled to a tax credit. See the website for more information.
Calgary SCOPE Society Outreach Services
SCOPE provides in-home information, support, and consultation for developmentally delayed, behavioral, social, or emotional challenges.
