About Our Schools
Our school program operates at six locations across Calgary with programs for children ages 2.8 to six years old, and early intervention beginning at 19 months.
Why Providence
At Providence, we focus on all areas of a child’s learning and development. Our educational and therapeutic programs provide stimulating and challenging activities in a fun learning environment. Each school provides enhanced learning experiences through small class sizes and a specialized environment that includes multi- sensory rooms, music, gymnasiums and playgrounds.
Providence employs a diverse transdisciplinary team to meet each child’s individual needs. Each class is facilitated by a certified teacher with support from our therapists and teaching/therapeutic assistants.
Who Can Attend?
To attend, a child must qualify for Program Unit Funding (PUF) through Alberta Education. Any child with a diagnosed developmental delay, disability or medical condition who would benefit from an educational program that provides therapy may be eligible.
Once you have completed all requirements for registration, Providence will apply for Program Unit Funding (PUF) for your child.
Registration Fee
At Providence, we take pride in making special education accessible to all families. The only fee required is a non-refundable annual registration fee of $50.
Our Programs
Providence school programs run September to June for two hours and 45 minutes, either morning or afternoon, four days/week, Monday through Thursday. Morning classes run from 8:20 am to 11:05 am and afternoon classes run from 1:00 pm to 3:45 pm. Bussing services within Calgary city limits may be available at no cost to children who meet eligibility requirements.

Ages 19 months to 2.8 years
*This program is offered only at our Windsor Park and McKenzie Towne locations, two mornings a week.
Preschool
Ages 2.8 to 4 years

Providence programs provide specialized support and resources to help each child reach their full potential and overcome challenges they may face due to a delay or disability. Providence ECS programs are funded by Alberta Education and follow the Early Childhood Services Regulations under the School Act. As a private ECS operator, Providence is a member of the Association of Independent Schools and Colleges in Alberta (AISCA).

Our programs run from September to June. If you are joining us mid-year, it may take a couple of weeks to complete the registration process and apply for funding. Providence will contact you with a start date for your child. Subject to availability.
If your desired school location is full, we can put your child on our waitlist. If/when an opening becomes available, we will offer that spot to families on the waitlist. Unfortunately, we are unable to estimate how long your child will be on a waitlist or if a spot will open for the current school year.
Providence applies to Alberta Education for this funding once you have registered and provided all necessary documents.
Our schools offer a half-day program, running 2 hours and 45 minutes long. Children can attend in the morning or afternoon, but not both.
Providence is not a one-on-one program but offers small class sizes to ensure each child gets specialized support, as well as the opportunity to practice social skills and benefit from peer modelling.
Providence does not provide Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) programming but will communicate with your child’s FSCD team to share information as required.
Alberta Education states that children can only be enrolled in one Program Unit Funded (PUF) program at a time.
