Volunteers
Volunteers play an integral role at Providence. At present, we have 70 volunteers who provide a number of services that includes:
- Board of Directors
- Parents and other volunteers who assist in our playrooms
- New Canadians looking for community connections and work experience
- Students from Mount Royal College, SAIT and the University of Calgary
- Disabled adults referred to us from Vocational Resources (VRRI)
- Marketing and Fund Development volunteers
- General public who assist with various administrative duties
Volunteer Possibilities
Work directly with the children
- Read stories
- Sing songs
- Help with feeding
- Help with play
- Develop and work on a special project with the children, i.e. teach them a specific gym activity, work on a craft, teach dancing.
Participate in a special event:
Volunteer with the numerous duties on the day of event - this would vary with each event, but would basically mean that you are part of the crew for the duration of the event. Some examples are as follows:
- Co-ordinate other volunteers
- Set up equipment
- Take down equipment
- Take tickets at the door
- Be on coat check
- Look after parking
- Look after refreshments
Fundraising:
- Develop, plan and implement a public awareness or fundraising venture to benefit the organization
Operational duties:
- Assist with laundry
- Assist in cleaning toys
Administration:
- Data entry
- Photocopying
- Colouring
- Laminating
- Cutting
- Update mailing lists
- Answering phones
