Spring is just around the corner!
Providence spring break is March 24 to March 28. A school holiday is an exciting time but for some children it can sometimes be stressful. Here are a few things to keep in mind to make the holiday more enjoyable for the entire family…
Between February 5 and February 12, Providence children from all sites participated in their own version of the winter Olympics. Our Canadian Olympic team would have been inspired by the energy and enthusiasm of our kids!
Events at the Providence Olympics included a torch relay, wagon-pull, scooter-board races, snowball toss, hockey, and figure skating. Both fine and gross motor activities were planned with adaptations in mind to include all ages and gross motor abilities. Extra large scooter-boards were available for children with limited sitting balance, and children who find heavy work calming loved the wagon-pull event.
Highlights included watching the children “skate” to pop music with colourful scarves and sprint down the hall proudly waving their “torch”. The games wrapped up with medal ceremonies, which each child got to stand on the podium to be awarded a special medal for their participation. Thanks to all children and staff for helping to make this a fun and memorable day!
