About ECLS

Expanding Capacity and Learner Supports (ECLS) provides capacity building and therapeutic support for Kindergarten to Grade 12 students, staff, and families in independent and private schools. We do this by consulting with service providers, and providing resources, professional learning opportunities, direct services, or a combination of these.

ECLS is an AISCA grant funded project sponsored by Alberta Education that operates as a partnership with Independent Schools, Private ECS Operators, and in collaboration with Providence and Renfrew Educational Services.

Capacity building includes:

  • Knowledge dissemination – professional development presentations
  • Skill building – collaborative solutions and focused strategies
  • Implementation – coaching and practice with strategies
  • Maintenance – planning and support for sustainability

Some direct services are also offered for children and students not already funded for these needs. These services include Speech Language, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Mental Health.

Low Incidence supports are available in the areas of Blind/Vision Impairment (BVI), Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH), Educational Audiology (Ed Aud) and Complex Communication Needs (CCN)/Assistive Technology (AT)/Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC).
